Markel International, the specialist insurer, has appointed Peter Dickel as senior underwriter in its Personal Accident, Contingency and Entertainment (PACE) team, effective November 1.
Dickel joins Markel International from specialist insurance and reinsurance firm MS Amlin, where he most recently served as class underwriter.
He has more than 20 years’ experience in Accident and Health lines, and has also held underwriting positions at both W.R. Berkley and Torus.
In his new role, Dickel will report to James Leach, Managing Director for Accident, Health and Contingency, and will work with the existing PA team of Johan Haggo and Joanne Barry.
Leach commented: “Peter has a strong market presence and broker following in his class of business and we look forward to him becoming part of our team.”
Markel International also recently appointed Gordon Lam a Senior Professional and Financial Risks Underwriter, and added Tom Simpson to its War and Terrorism underwriting team and Simon Engelen to its Marine and Energy team.
