Markel announces series of appointments within trade credit, political risk & surety business

Specialist insurer and reinsurer Markel International has made a string of appointments and promotions in its trade credit, political risk and surety business, restructuring its teams to better reflect the needs of its broker clients across these lines.

markelAdrian Jones has been appointed Head of Strategic Development for Asia and the Middle East, and will retain his current position as Senior Underwriter.

Concurrently, Leroy Almeida is to become Head of Middle East operations, overseeing the company’s newly incorporated marine and D&O product lines.

Simon Moon and Carl Titterton have also been appointed to Head of Risk Underwriting and Head of Commercial Underwriting for the trade credit business, respectively.

Additionally, Nicola Marriage is to become Head of Political Risk and Philip Amlot has been named Head of Trade Credit and Political Risk, Americas, whilst Damian Manning is to continue as Head of Surety.

Finally, Arjan Van de Wall will enhance Markel’s international team as new Global Development Director, overseeing the implementation of solutions for the company’s large multinational clients and allowing brokers to access the team’s expertise across all geographies.

Ewa Rose, Managing Director of the Division, said: “Since the launch of the business in 2010, we have expanded our geographic reach across the US, Canada, Singapore and Dubai in addition to the London presence and have added political risk and surety product lines to the trade credit operation.

“The new structure gives leadership responsibility to the separate business lines, while providing an overarching, multi-product business development role that can engage effectively with our brokers.”
