Arcus Syndicate 1856 at Lloyd’s has appointed Nick James from Markel International as underwriting manager for North America property treaty.
Arcus Syndicate 1856 is backed by third-party funds under the management of the Credit Suisse insurance and reinsurance linked investment team.
He joins from Markel International, where he was Managing Director, property treaty, having joined the company in 2011. Prior to Markel, he was a property treaty underwriter at Ace Tempest. He has also spent a decade in the broking sector, working at Aon and Guy Carpenter as an international property treaty broker.
Arcus 1856 Managing Director, Adrian Gfeller, commented: “We are delighted to announce Nick’s appointment. He brings over 20 years of experience in the property treaty reinsurance sector. Having worked both as an underwriter and broker during that time, he has great technical knowledge coupled with a clear understanding of the needs of brokers and insureds.”
