Marsh McLennan has committed to reaching net zero across its operations by 2050, alongside reducing its carbon emissions by half in the next eight years.

Dan Glaser, president and CEO at Marsh McLennan, said: “We are proud to be part of the global movement to develop solutions needed to keep global temperature rise below 1.5°C and prepare for a warmer world.

“Just as we advise our clients on how to execute the profound transformations required, we are committing to chart our own path to net-zero at Marsh McLennan.”

The 75-page report lists five aspects of Marsh McLennan’s ESG policy. These include:

  1. A commitment to ESG starting at home.
  2. People being its greatest strength
  3. A future requiring climate resilience
  4. The important role that Marsh McLennan can play
  5. Change being the responsibility of everybody

Kate Brennan, who was promoted earlier this year to her new position of general counsel of Marsh McLennan, contributed to the report.

She wrote: “At the heart of our ESG strategy is our ESG philosophy, which drives our risk management and decision-making for our stakeholders who value ESG considerations. We believe transparent and consistent disclosure enables better-informed business and investment decisions.”
