Africa Specialty Risks (ASR), the developing-markets-focused re/insurance group, has announced the appointment of Mary Driscoll as Southern Africa Regional Lead.
Based in Johannesburg, Driscoll will be instrumental in strengthening and integrating ASR’s direct Lloyd’s syndicate presence in South Africa, working closely with Corinne Beadsmoore, Head of Broker and Cedent Engagement.
She will also support the company’s underwriters in sourcing opportunities across all lines of business and offer Lloyd’s AA-rated security to local brokers (Lloyd’s OMCs) in South Africa and broader regions.
Furthermore, Driscoll will partner with Chief Underwriting Officer Eric Malterre and Chief Distribution Officer Amit Khilosia as ASR accelerates its regional growth across Southern Africa.
The executive began her underwriting career at Munich Re South Africa before moving into broking with a number of major local insurance and reinsurance brokers.
She then spent 10 years as a portfolio executive underwriter for Africa with Emerald Risk Transfer and, more recently, was Director of Reinsurance Operations at Sanlam Allianz Re Mauritius.
