Hill’s focus in his new role will be on retrospective solutions, helping clients to achieve capital and operational relief, as well as economic and legal finality in their (re)insurance carriers and captives through the reinsurance of P&C legacy (run-off) portfolios.

Andrew Matson, head of structured solutions at McGill and Partners, said: “With a strong background in speciality (re)insurance and an excellent reputation in our sector, Andy will be a valuable addition to the team at McGill and Partners. Our business continues to grow through investing in our people and expanding our propositions so we can achieve the best solutions for our clients; Andy will play a key role in these expansion plans.”

The company said that Hill’s entering the company would be vital to its expansion plans that include alternative and retrospective risk transfer.

Hill said: “I joined McGill and Partners because I wanted to work with a broker that operates without silos and therefore brings the very best of its talent to bear in delivering innovative, tailored solutions for its clients. We are seeing strong demand for bespoke legacy solutions from (re)insurance carriers seeking capital relief on old underwriting years to facilitate growth in their commercial books; this new opportunity affords me the ability to make a difference for our clients at a crucial point in the underwriting cycle.”

Hill joining McGill and Partners’s structured solutions team comes a year after the company appointed Peter Chesman to be a partner within the same team.
