McGill appoints Cousar to build out APAC fac reinsurance growth

Specialist re/insurance broker, McGill and Partners has appointed David Cousar as Partner in its facultative reinsurance team.

McGill and partners Cousar’s appointment is part of McGill and Partner’s entrance into the APAC market as the firm continues to grow its global reach.

Within this new role, Cousar will be based in Sydney, Australia, where he will be responsible for looking after the development and growth of all lines of facultative business in the Asia Pacific region.

In addition, he will be working closely with Paul Summers, Head of Facultative Reinsurance at McGill and Partners, as the firm looks to recruit additional talent to build in the region and globally.

Cousar brings 27 years of industry experience to the role, mostly within the facultative space.

Throughout his career, Cousar has been involved in several facultative start-ups, and worked books of business in UK, Europe, Scandinavia, Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Pacific. For the last eight years he served as Head of Asia, Facultative Aon Reinsurance Solutions.

He started out his career as an Underwriter at National Re, before moving on to serve as an Associate Secretary at General Re.

Further into his career, Cousar served as an Executive Director at RKH Reinsurance Brokers. In addition to that, he also previously served as an Executive Director at Gallagher, as well as Head of Fac at Lockton Companies.
