MNK Group, the independent international insurance group, has completed the acquisition of 100% of Danish insurer ETU Forsikring A/S, following approval from the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority (Finanstilsynet).
According to the announcement, MNK Group’s main focus is to strengthen ETU as a Danish insurer. By deploying fresh capital into the firm, the Group plans to scale its regional footprint throughout Denmark and the Nordics.
This initiative will support ETU’s existing policyholders and distribution networks through continued investments in local talent, product offerings, and technological infrastructure.
Established in 2006, ETU is a Danish non-life insurer and is headquartered in Rødekro, Southern Jutland. Being regulated by Finanstilsynet, one of Europe’s most respected authorities, it gives the firm authorisation across eleven non-life classes, including Property (Fire and Other Damage), General Liability, Motor, Marine Hull and Liability, Goods in Transit (Cargo), Accident, Legal Expenses and Assistance.
It already holds freedom-of-services passports into Sweden and Norway, and into Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Greece and Malta.
ETU has become MNK Group’s first dedicated risk carrier in the European Union, and over time the Group intends to develop the company into a hub for its wider European operations, with further lines of business to follow, subject to regulatory approval.
For regional and European partners, the acquisition provides access to a Solvency II-regulated carrier with MNK Group’s underwriting expertise, Lloyd’s broking, and MGA network.
ETU will blend insurance with tech-enabled distribution, supporting the Group’s ongoing digital investment.
Manoj Kumar, Founder and Group CEO of MNK Group, said: “We are delighted to welcome ETU into the MNK Group family. Denmark combines a highly respected regulatory environment with genuine leadership in digital adoption, and our first commitment is to ETU’s Danish policyholders and partners: to build a stronger, well-capitalised insurer serving Denmark and the Nordic region.
“From that foundation, ETU gives us a regulated EU carrier from which we can expand our capabilities, strengthen our partnerships and deliver more for clients across Europe. This acquisition reflects a long-term commitment, and we look forward to building our presence locally and deepening our relationships across the Nordics and the wider European market.”
