MS&AD Insurance Group subsidiary, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance (MSI), has announced the establishment of what it calls Global Digital Hubs (GDH) in Tokyo and Singapore.
The company’s intentions are for the two GDHs, alongside other innovation-driven initiatives, to help promote digitalisation and solve wider societal challenges.
This announcement echos MSI’s move last year to replace 90% of the work shouldered by office staff with Artificial Intelligence, in an attempt to reduce overall workload by 20%.
MSI said at the time that the implementation of such technologies would free up its staff to focus on selling more policies, as well as claims settlement, product development and other specialised areas that cannot be automated.
GDH Tokyo was established on April 5 and will be used to further the understanding of digitalisation among employees and agents, cultivate new ideas on digitalisation and experiment with new ideas within the business.
GDH Tokyo, MSI says, will be the epicentre for promoting culture of providing added value to our clients where our agents and employees will maximise utilisation of systems and tools using digital technology and big data.
GDH Singapore, established on February 1, will be used to support the development of digital initiatives in the region by taking advantage of MSI’s presence in all ten ASEAN member countries.
MSI says GDH Singapore will aim to enhance customer experience in the rapidly developing ASEAN market and will help develop innovative insurance products and services through collaboration with business partners and open innovation with startups.
