Munich Re America reshuffles leadership, structure of reinsurance division

The U.S branch of global reinsurer Munich Re has created several senior positions and realigned the executive leadership of the organisation’s reinsurance division.

Munich Re logo on a signThe division’s Chief Executive Officer and President, Steve Levy, explained that the new positions and realigned U.S reinsurance division executive leadership team reflect a flatter underwriting structure and a greater focus on innovation efforts.

Underwriting responsibility will now be shared between several leaders who will also serve as members of the reinsurance division executive leadership team effective February 1.

Gerry Skalka has been appointed Head of Casualty Underwriting, while Martin Neuhaus becomes Head of Specialty Lines and Facultative Underwriting (including Professional Liability/Cyber, Credit & Surety and Marine).

Effective November 2018, Mike Quigley was appointed Head of Property Underwriting while Tim Brockett has been appointed Head of Innovation and Strategic Products.

Levy added that this reshuffle will further enhance the company’s ability to deliver products and services to meet the evolving needs of clients.

Additionally, a number of executives are set to join the reinsurance division executive leadership team whilst remaining in their current positions, these include:

Stephan Hochburger, Client Executive; Oliver Horbelt, Head of Capital Partners; Paul Ludwig, Client Executive; Sam McCroskey, Client Executive; Risa Ryan, Head of Strategy & Analysis;
Joe Stuhl, Broker Executive.
