Global reinsurer Munich Re has appointed Nicolas Carro as Chief Executive Officer for its Life and Health business and operations in Australia and New Zealand.
Effective in the new year, Carro will be based in Sydney and report to Daniel Cossette, CEO for Munich Re Life & Health in Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa.
He succeeds Andrew Linfoot, who after six years in the role is to take up a regional role within the company.
Carro has held various finance and capital management roles since joining Munich Re in 2004.
He most recently served as Chief Financial Officer for Munich Re in Australasia, defining and executing the finance strategy to support its Life and Non-Life businesses.
“Nicolas has a deep understanding of Munich Re’s business, our clients and the market environment in Australasia, having been based in Sydney for the past five years,” said Cossette.
“He has a proven track record in setting a compelling vision and financial strategy for the company that is underpinned by his deep technical understanding of risk management and strong leadership skills.
“We are confident Nicolas’s appointment to lead our Life & Health business in Australia and New Zealand will ensure we can continue our journey of building a sustainable business and providing our clients with our local technical expertise and international capabilities that help them capture new opportunities and solutions for their customers.”
