Munich Re Specialty Group (MRSG), a division of reinsurance giant Munich Re, has appointed Steven Weiss and Ben Tucker to lead its expanding underwriting team in the Americas.
Weiss has been named Senior Vice President (SVP)/Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) of Ocean and Inland Marine Insurance. He brings 28 years’ experience as a marine surveyor, loss adjuster and underwriter. Prior to joining Munich Re’s new underwriting unit, Weiss served as SVP at Aspen and Liberty International.
“Building a new team and platform under the Munich Re brand brings compelling new insurance products and capabilities to the marketplace,” said Weiss.
Ben Tucker has been appointed SVP/CUO of Specialty Insurance, including Cyber, Terrorism/Political Violence, and Financial Lines.
Joining with over 20 years’ industry experience as both a broker and underwriter, Tucker has an in-depth understanding of property and terrorism risks. He spent 12 years in various divisions of broker Marsh before transitioning to XL Catlin in 2013 as the Head of U.S Terrorism and PV division.
“I am particularly energised and ready to apply my experience, entrepreneurial spirit and service-oriented mind set toward the success of this unique growth initiative,” commented Tucker.
Both Weiss and Tucker will report to newly appointed CEO and President of MRSG subsidiary, Roanoke Group, John Hennessy, who is charged with leading the expansion of MRSG’s underwriting platform in the Americas.
“I am excited to be working closely with Ben and Steven as we bring our combined experiences together and build-out our specialty capabilities in support of our brokers and customers,” Hennessy added.
