Munich Re Specialty Group, a division of global reinsurer Munich Re, has announced the appointment of Hui Yun Boo as Head of Asia, effective April 3rd, 2020.
In her new role, Hui Yun will be based in Singapore and will be responsible for leading the reinsurer’s Syndicate offices throughout the Asia region.
She joins the firm from Ironshore Insurance, where she served as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Singapore branch between 2015 and 2019. During this time, Hui Yun had responsibility for all of the company’s teams across the Asia-Pacific region.
Hui Yun brings almost three decades of industry experience to Munich Re, having joined Ironshore from Catlin in Singapore, where she served as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Asia Pacific, and a member of Exco. Before Catlin, she worked at QBE Insurance International as a Financial Controller and also at ING General Insurance International as Deputy General Manager.
She takes over as Head of Asia at Munich Re Specialty Group from Celine Ang, who has led the business since 2017 and is stepping back from day-to-day leadership, though will remain with the reinsurer in a role focused on business development opportunities.
In her new position, Hui Yun will report to Charlie Burgess, CEO of International Distribution at Munich Re Specialty Group.
