Odyssey Reinsurance Company (OdysseyRe) has named Alberto Marcano as Senior Vice President (SVP) and Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) for Treaty in its Latin America unit, as Andrew Dickson transitions to a new role as Head of Surety for Hudson Insurance Group.
Marcano brings more than three decades of insurance and reinsurance experience in the Latin America marketplace, and first joined OdysseyRe in 2011 as Vice President and Senior Treaty Underwriter.
OdysseyRe notes that his underwriting responsibilities included all lines of business and he most recently had a focus on clients across the Caribbean and Colombia. In his new role, he will be based in Miami and will report to Philippe Mallier, CEO of Latin America at OdysseyRe.
Additionally, Andrew Grey, Assistant Vice President and Senior Surety Underwriter for the reinsurer’s North America Division, will take on the additional role as Head of Surety for its Latin America Division.
“No one understands our culture and value proposition to our business partners in Latin America and the Caribbean better than members of our own team. These changes clearly demonstrate our preferred approach to promote from within and I am confident that Alberto and Andrew will be successful in their respective leadership positions.
“On behalf of everyone on our Latin America team, we wish Andy Dickson the very best in his new position at Hudson,” said Mallier.
Andrew Dickson has been named as the new Head of Surety at Hudson Insurance Group, Odyssey Group’s US Insurance arm. He first joined OdysseyRe in 2010 as the senior underwriter for all surety reinsurance in Latin America. Since 2016, he has served as CUO for the reinsurer’s Latin America Division.
Christopher Gallagher, President and CEO of Hudson Insurance, said: “Andy brings a breadth of experience and deep product knowledge to Hudson. We are excited to have him at the helm of our surety team. Surety continues to be a strategic and important area of growth for us.”
In his new role, Dickson will be based in Miami and will report to Gallagher.
