Specialty managing general agent (MGA) Optio Group, has announced the appointment of Tom Godsey who joins Cove Programs, an Optio company, as claims director for its subcontractor default insurance (SDI) practice.
Based in Tennessee, Godsey will report to both Nathan Espe, head of SDI, and Nick Woodward, head of claims, and assumes his role effective immediately.
Within his new role, Godsey will oversee Cove’s SDI claims process, as well as offering leadership and input on all SDI claims.
He brings an impressive claims and legal background within the construction insurance space, with more than 25 years of experience.
Godsey joins from Zurich North America, where he served as claim attorney. Prior to that he was the legal affairs counsel for Turner Construction Company where he oversaw all subcontractor default claims throughout the US.
Addressing Godsey’s appointment, Woodward said: “Tom’s vast experience and appointment is in line with our commitment to our clients and business partners as we continue to build our dedicated SDI claims function.”
Espe, added: “Tom is an excellent and welcome addition to the SDI team. His technical and legal experience is extensive, having focused on claims relating to surety bonds and SDI for much of his career.
