Peter Vogt to replace Joseph Henry as CFO of Axis Capital

Insurer and reinsurer AXIS Capital Holdings has announced that current AXIS Insurance Chief Operating Officer (COO), Peter Vogt, will replace Joseph Henry, who is to retire at the end of 2017, as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of AXIS Capital.

Vogt will assume the role of CFO of AXIS Capital Holdings from January 1st, 2018, and will be appointed Deputy CFO in July. He brings over 30 years of industry experience to his new role, which includes being a senior leader at AXIS since 2010. Prior to being AXIS Insurance COO from 2013, Vogt also served as CFO and COO of AXIS’ Accident & Health business division.

Albert Benchimol, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AXIS Capital, commented; “Pete is accomplished in driving performance across diverse insurance businesses in both financial and operational leadership roles, and he has a deep understanding of AXIS’ business, given his COO positions in both our Insurance and A&H business units.

“He is a highly respected leader within the AXIS organization who embodies our culture and values, and his appointment reflects our commitment to cultivating our top talent and growing from within.”

Before working for AXIS, Vogt has held positions at Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company, CIGNA’s Group Insurance business, and Hartford Life Insurance Company.

Henry, who has been CFO of the firm for the last five years, will continue to act as an advisor for AXIS Capital. Benchimol commented on his departure; “During his five years at AXIS, Joe has made immeasurable contributions to our organization. He has been pivotal in helping significantly strengthen our fiscal strategy while serving as a respected leader and valued counselor to many in our organization. On behalf of all of AXIS, we are deeply grateful for Joe’s exceptional leadership and his friendship.”

Henry, added; “Pete is an ideal candidate to hold the CFO position at AXIS and I have tremendous respect for his abilities as a leader, strategist and financial counselor. His appointment gives me great confidence that AXIS will continue to build on the significant progress we’ve made.
