Jim Williamson, Executive Vice President and Group Chief Operating Officer (COO) of insurer and reinsurer Everest has been elected as the Chair of the Reinsurance Association of America (RAA).
Williamson was elected Chair at the association’s 56th Annual Meeting on April 25th, 2024, with Jon Colello, President of PartnerRe elected as Vice Chair, and Nicolas Berg, Head of P&C North America at SCOR, was elected secretary-treasurer.
“The RAA team looks forward to working with our new officers as we advance the Association’s advocacy initiatives at both the federal and state level,” said Lee Covington, President of the RAA.
As EVP and Group COO, Williamson leads Everest’s insurance and reinsurance businesses, and has responsibility for advancing underwriting excellence, digital transformation, innovation, operational efficiency and data and analytics capabilities.
Prior to Everest, Williamson was the Division President of North America Small Business at large U.S. insurer Chubb, and began his insurance career as a casualty underwriter at The Hartford.
Colello took over as President of PartnerRe in April 2024, and has executive responsibility for all of the firm’s non-life underwriting globally. He joined the firm in 2019 from AXIS Re, where he was President of North America. He first joined AXIS Re in 2004 and held numerous roles during his time with the firm.
Berg has oversight of SCOR’s P&C activities across the North America region in his role as Head of P&C North America at the reinsurer. He joined SCOR in April 2022, and before this, spent almost two decades with AIG where he held several Underwriting Executive positions in London, Paris, and New York.
