Re, the blockchain-powered reinsurer with the aim of building a decentralized global reinsurance market, has appointed James Norris as its new Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO).

“We are excited to welcome James Norris, FCAS, CERA as our new Chief Underwriting Officer at Re. James’ 30+ years of insurance and reinsurance experience, along with his forward-thinking mindset, make him the perfect addition to our growing team.
“As CUO, he’ll lead risk assessments and help us make informed decisions, minimizing losses, and ensuring a profitable portfolio,” said the company.
Prior to joining Re in July, Norris was the President of Lapis Resources for a period of 14 years.
During his time with Lapis Resources, he worked with multiple US and Bermuda clients, including a three-year contract as Chief Actuary for a Class 3 Bermuda reinsurer. His other responsibilities included pricing and risk transfer analysis for clients on over 200 quota shares, excess of loss, swing rated, and stop-loss reinsurance contracts for various lines of business.
Norris is also the Co-Founder of insurtech B2Z Insurance, where he also served as Chief Growth Officer, and previously as Chief Actuary, and Head Actuary.
Earlier in his career, he worked at EC3 Brokers, Greyhawk Insurance, and Atlas General Insurance Services as Chief Actuary, and also at Greenlight Re as Vice President and Actuary.
