4th July 2019 - Author: Matt Sheehan

D L Dale & Others, Syndicate 2525, the specialist employers’ and third-party liability Lloyd’s insurer, has announced the retirement of Tim Butcher, Senior Class Underwriter for international liability business.

Butcher has spent his entire career in the Lloyd’s market since joining in 1975.

He has been with some of his current colleagues since they worked together under Michael Payne at Syndicate 386 in the 1970s and 1980s, and he helped to establish the John Murphy Syndicate 1156 in the 1990s.

Butcher re-joined 386 following the merger of the Bankside and Janson Green Managing Agencies in 1996 and remained there under the QBE brand until joining Syndicate 2525 in 2014.

“We are grateful for Tim’s contribution since joining us in 2014,” said David Dale, Syndicate 2525’s active underwriter.

“He has established a growing liability book which has put the syndicate on the map in many parts of the globe and we very much appreciate him bringing his breadth of knowledge and experience.”

Butcher also commented: “I have much enjoyed my relatively short time at 2525. The international casualty market has turned a corner and there are plenty of opportunities for the Syndicate in the future.”

Butcher will remain with 2525 until the end of the year to support a handover of his responsibilities.

D L Dale & Others, Syndicate 2525, commenced underwriting in 2000 with capital provided by a mix of third party corporate and individual names.

Syndicate 2525 underwrites employers and all aspects of liability business, including offshore and construction risks. Its stamp capacity for 2018 is £65m.
