Sompo Asia Pacific (Sompo APAC), part of Sompo International Holdings Ltd., has announced the appointment of Canon Liu as Head of Financial Lines, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.
Based in Hong Kong, Liu will lead Sompo’s Financial Lines underwriting strategy across the region, driving growth and portfolio expansion across Directors and Officers, Professional Indemnity, Financial Institutions, and Cyber insurance.
He brings a strong track record in Financial Lines underwriting, portfolio management, and market development, with expertise in corporate risk underwriting and product innovation.
Liu joins Sompo from QBE Asia, where he led the Financial Lines portfolio across D&O, Professional Indemnity, Crime, Medical Malpractice, and Cyber, setting portfolio strategy and driving profitable growth through disciplined underwriting and commercially focused execution.
Prior to joining QBE, he spent 13 years at AIG, most recently serving as Senior Underwriting Manager, where he managed a profitable Commercial Institutions and Financial Institutions portfolio, delivering steady growth while maintaining underwriting discipline and portfolio quality.
