Sompo International, the Bermuda headquartered specialty insurance and reinsurance firm formerly named Endurance, has announced the addition of two newly hired senior casualty reinsurance underwriters.
Alison Wood and Lorene Phillips have both joined the Sompo International Global Casualty Reinsurance team in the role of Senior Vice President, International Casualty Underwriter. The pair will be based in London and report Mike Fokken, Executive Vice President, Head of International Casualty & Professional Lines Reinsurance.
Alison Wood joins Sompo International from her most recent role with ArgoGlobal Syndicate 1200 where she underwrote general liability classes including cyber, crime and medical malpractice and motor, for a broad international client base including the UK, Ireland, Continental Europe, Canada, Asia, the Middle East, South America and India.
Wood has more than 30 years of reinsurance industry experience. Before her time at Argo, Wood spent 12 years with Gen Re as a Senior Vice President & Practice Leader, and also had underwriting roles in both life and non-life insurance and as a buyer of Global Casualty reinsurance for RSA.
Lorene Phillips joins Sompo International from Allied World, having spent 15 years based in Bermuda and more recently London, responsible for the Casualty Facultative & International Treaty portfolio at the firm. In her time with Allied World, Phillips helped to build their European portfolio which was predominantly focused on D&O, EL and Miscellaneous E&O.
Phillips has over 20 years of insurance and reinsurance industry experience, having begun her career with XL Catlin where she worked with both the Underwriting and Claims teams for 9 years.
