P&C re/insurer Sompo International appointed Risa Ryan as Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) and member of the executive team, effective May 15.
In this newly created position, Ryan will be responsible for establishing a collaborative global framework that incorporates best-in-class underwriting and pricing tools.
This framework aims to ensure a consistent approach to underwriting and provide products and services that cater to the multinational needs of Sompo International’s clients.
Reporting directly to James Shea, Chief Executive Officer for Sompo International, Ryan will be based in Florham Park, New Jersey, US.
Prior to joining Sompo International, Ryan served as the Global Head of Standard Insurance Products at Swiss Re.
She brings a wealth of industry experience, having held positions of increasing responsibility throughout her career. Notably, she was the Senior Vice President and Head of Analytics North America at QBE.
Ryan’s professional journey began at Munich Re America, where she spent 27 years in various leadership and underwriting roles, including Head of Strategy and Analysis, the re/insurer said.
