South Shore Insurance Underwriters (SSIU), a niche, cat exposed, commercial and residential property surplus lines brokerage and MGA, has announced the appointment of Andrew Fowles as new Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO)

Fowles brings a wealth of experience on the carrier side having worked in both Lloyd’s of London and the US Domestic E&S market for 27 years.

He joins SSIU from Canopius Group where he held the position Deputy Head of Delegated Authority, for almost two years. Prior to that he was President & CUO CUSI for almost eleven years.

He has also held roles at Novae, before it was acquired by AXIS, GLR Syndicate Ltd, and RFIB Group Limited.

Commenting on his appointment, Fowles said: “This is an exciting time for the company. I have worked with hundreds of MGA’s both in London and the US, and SSIU has always separated themselves from the crowd with its youthful leadership, underwriting discipline and platform investments.
