Global reinsurer Swiss Re has announced a number of new senior executive appointment in its reinsurance division, including Head Casualty Reinsurance, Head P&C Business Management and Head Life & Health Business Management.
Jason Richards has been appointed as Swiss Re’s new Head Casualty Reinsurance, while Nicola Parton will succeed him in his previous role of Head P&C Business Management.
Richards, who takes on the new role as of November 1st, has been with Swiss Re for 23 years in a range of reinsurance related roles, including 11 years at GE Insurance Solutions prior to the merger.
His most recent role, as Head P&C Business Management, saw Richards develop a strong knowledge of the core P&C in-force portfolio from a claims, reserving and retro operations perspective. He has been heavily involved in large P&C transaction and led the FinTech initiative for Swiss Re’s reinsurance business.
Richards is based in Copenhagen and remains a member of the Reinsurance Management Team, reporting into CEO of Reinsurance Moses Ojeisekhoba.
Parton, currently Head Primary Lead Strategy & Client Engagement for Corporate Solutions, will succeed Richards, taking on the role of Head P&C Business Management.
Parton has over 20 years of experience in the re/insurance industry. She led the implementation of the Primary Lead strategy, before which she served in various claims leadership roles, including Head of Corporate Solutions Claims. Parton led a number of business initiatives to support client retention and portfolio management strategies at Corporate Solutions and developed the Claims Commitment, an industry-leading claims service approach viewed as a differentiator in the market. Parton will become a member of the Reinsurance Management Team reporting into Moses Ojeisekhoba and will remain based in London. Barton takes on the new role as of December 1st.
Additionally, James Shepherd was appointed Head Life & Health Business Management with effect from 1 October 2017.
Shepherd manages Swiss Re’s inforce portfolio of Life & Health reinsurance business, including claims management, technical accounting, portfolio management, run-off, auditing, reinsurance operations and reserving. He began his reinsurance career in 1987 with Victory Re and joined Swiss Re in 2006 with the GE acquisition, having been part of the GE Global L&H Executive team. He spent 10 years as a Swiss Re client manager and underwriter in multiple markets, before becoming Chief Operating Officer of the Reinsurance business in 2011.
Shepherd is based in Zurich and remains a member of the Reinsurance Management Team, reporting into Moses Ojeisekhoba. He took on the new role as of October 1st.
