Swiss Re has named Urs Baertschi as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Reinsurance EMEA, Regional President and member of the Group Executive Committee, succeeding Russell Higginbotham.
Baertschi’s appointment is effective September 1st, 2019 and remains subject to regulatory approval. He replaces Higginbotham, who earlier this month took on the role of CEO Reinsurance Asia and Regional President.
Baertschi has served as Swiss Re’s President of Reinsurance Latin America for the past four years, and prior to this, was Managing Director, Head Principal Investments & Acquisitions Americas. Before this, he held numerous M&A and private equity roles both in and outside of Swiss Re, focusing on insurance, healthcare, and financial services.
