Global reinsurance giant Swiss Re has announced the appointment of Jason Richards as Country President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) UK & Ireland, as Julie Stephenson takes on the role of Global Head of Casualty.
Richards takes on his new role from January 1st, 2022, and will be responsible for driving profitable growth of the UK & Ireland reinsurance portfolio and continuing to strengthen the firm’s influence and position in the London market.
He brings almost three decades of insurance and reinsurance industry experience to the role, having joined Swiss Re in 2006 as part of the GE Insurance Solutions acquisition. In 2013, he was named Head of Property & Casualty Business Management.
Richards was made Global Head of Casualty in November of 2017, and during this time has successfully improved the quality of the reinsurer’s casualty portfolio, grown the P&C transactions portfolio, and set a strong foundation for its solutions business.
Stephenson is to join Swiss Re to take over as Global Head of Casualty and member of the Reinsurance Management team. She joins the firm from CNA, where she currently serves as a Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO), Middle Market.
She joined CNA in 2015 as the Commercial CUO responsible for profitability, portfolio management, and underwriting governance for all of the insurer’s commercial P&C business.
Prior to CNA, she worked as Senior Vice President and Global Liability Manager for Chubb and was responsible for the strategic direction of the portfolio across all global markets where the company has liability exposure.
