Swiss Re’s Jayne Plunkett joins AIA as Chief Risk Officer

Pan-Asian life insurer AIA Group Limited has announced the appointment of Jayne Plunkett as its new Group Chief Risk Officer, effective 1 November, 2019.

aia-logoShe joins AIA from Swiss Re, who announced yesterday that Russel Higginbotham would take over her role as CEO of Reinsurance for Asia from July 8.

Plunkett has been with Swiss Re since 2006 and has been responsible for the group’s business across Asia since 2016.

While at the company, she previously served as Head of Casualty Reinsurance, Head of Casualty Underwriting for Asia, and managed the unit dealing with large and complex transactions.

Plunkett also worked at GE Insurance Solutions before its acquisition by Swiss Re and started her career at John Deere Insurance Company in 1992.

As part of her new role, Plunkett will become a member of the Group Executive Committee at AIA, and will report to Ng Keng Hooi, Group Chief Executive and President.

At AIA, Plunkett will succeed Mitch New, who assumed the role of Group Chief Risk Officer in March 2019 on an interim basis, following the departure of Jon Nielson. New will continue in his role as Group General Counsel following the appointment.
