Tom Johansmeyer leaves PCS to join reinsurance broker Inver Re as Global Head of Index

1st May 2023 - Author: Luke Gallin

The Head of Verisk’s Property Claim Services (PCS) business, Tom Johansmeyer, is leaving the firm after 11 years and is set to join Inver Re, the reinsurance broking arm of the Ardonagh Group, as its new Global Head of Index products.

tom-johansmeyer-inver-reJohansmeyer first joined Verisk in 2012 as Director of Marketing for Verisk Insurance Solutions – Claims and Crime Analytics, later becoming Assistant Vice President Reinsurance Services and Marketing in 2015.

Since 2016, he has served as Head of PCS, during which time Johansmeyer has expanded the geographical footprint of the PCS product offering and broadened its capabilities into specialty lines of re/insurance.

In fact, PCS’ industry-index scope has grown to diverse regions like Japan, Asia Pacific, Latin America, Mexico, and Turkey, while lines of business now also include cyber, terror, marine and energy, onshore property per risk, and aviation.

PCS is home to the most-widely used range of industry-loss index solutions, and during his time with the company, Johansmeyer has been heavily involved in the catastrophe bond, industry-loss warranty (ILW) and broader insurance-linked securities (ILS) marketplace.

He’s leaving to take on a new role with reinsurance broker Inver Re in Bermuda in June, where he will serve as Global Head of Index, reporting to Kevin Stratton, CEO Bermuda Specialty & P&C at Inver Re in Bermuda.

The move to broker Inver Re means that Johansmeyer is actually the first PCS leader to leave for a position in the marketplace.

Johansmeyer is well known across the ILS space and is a regular speaker at ILS conferences hosted by Artemis, our ILS-focused sister publication.

Artemis reached out to Johansmeyer about this story, but he declined to comment.
