Ireland-based reinsurer UnipolRe, owned by Italian financial services group UnipolSai Assicurazioni, has appointed John Scully as its new Chief Underwriting Officer.
Scully has been promoted from his role as a Senior Underwriter in the business.
He joined UnipolRe in October 2019 as an Underwriter and previously worked for TransRe as an Underwriter in their Treaty Non Marine team.
Scully replaces Simon Wigzell, who is leaving the company to pursue new opportunities outside the reinsurance industry.
Marc Guy Victor Sordoni, the Chief Executive Officer of UnipolRe, said: “I am delighted to appoint John as our new Chief Underwriting Officer. I have worked with him for almost two years now and been very impressed by his hard work and dedication as well as his fresh ideas and energy.
“Equally, I would like to thank Simon for all his hard work helping build the company to what it is today from a standing start back in 2015. He has worked tirelessly to help build UnipolRe into an established player and I wish him all the best in his new venture.”
John Scully, Chief Underwriting Officer at UnipolRe, added: “I am delighted to accept this position with a company that I have thoroughly enjoyed working for over the past two years. We have a fantastic dynamic here and the opportunity to offer a fresh perspective for our clients in the market.”
