Validus’ Jonathan Ritz appointed President of Aspen

Bermudian insurer and reinsurer Aspen Insurance Holdings Limited has announced the appointment of Jonathan Ritz as its President, effective immediately.

Jonathan RitzFormerly, Ritz was Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Validus’ US Insurance operations, including Western World Insurance Group, Crop Risk Services and Validus Specialty, all of which were acquired by AIG in 2018. Previously, Ritz also served as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Validus Holdings.

He has more than 25 years of experience in the global re/insurance industry, and prior to Validus held numerous Chief Underwriting and Operating roles at United America Insurance Group, IFG Companies-Burlington Insurance Group and ICAT Holdings LLC.

He started his career in the industry with reinsurance broker Guy Carpenter, where he was also a Managing Director.

In this newly created position, he will report to Mark Cloutier, Executive Chairman and Group CEO of Aspen.
