Specialty managing general underwriter (MGU) Waypoint Underwriting Management has obtained coverholder approval to underwrite accident and health (A&H) products on behalf of ArgoGlobal Syndicate 1200 at Lloyd’s.

Argo GlobalWaypoint offers insurance and reinsurance solutions to clients in the U.S, led by an executive team that has started, owned and run multiple reinsurance platforms over the last 25 years.

For ArgoGlobal, the move represents an expansion of the company’s footprint in North America.

ArgoGlobal is the trading brand of Syndicate 1200 and a member of Argo Group International Holdings, the international underwriter of specialty insurance and reinsurance products in the property and casualty market.

The syndicate is currently ranked by Lloyd’s as top quartile for claims management, specialising in writing worldwide A&H, as well as property, marine, energy, specialty, and non-U.S liability insurance.

Joe Horan, Waypoint managing partner, commented on the announcement: “This is great news for us and our clients, as it gives us added capacity and capabilities in our target markets. Becoming an approved coverholder at Lloyd’s also reflects the high quality of our team.”

“We are excited to work with Waypoint to expand ArgoGlobal’s access to A&H expertise in the U.S,” added Adam Zawia, A&H Class underwriter at ArgoGlobal.

“Waypoint has a proven track record in delivering profitable business, and the underwriter will complement Argo’s high-quality team in London.”

Jason Denechaud, Waypoint managing partner, also stated: “We’re delighted that Lloyd’s has approved us as a coverholder, enabling us to work alongside ArgoGlobal’s impressive team. The approval represents another important step forward in our continuing product diversification and growth.”
