Global brokerage WTW has appointed Matthew Thinnes as Head of Energy & Construction Property on its Direct and Facultative team, based in North America.
Based in New York, Thinnes joins the firm with over 20 years of industry experience.
In his most recent role he served as Vice President – North America Construction Manager, at global reinsurer SCOR. Prior to taking on that role, he held the role of VP – Construction Engineering Underwriter.
Prior to joining SCOR, Thinnes worked at Liberty International Underwriters for just over one year where he held the role of VP, Underwriting Officer.
Additionally, he also previously worked at global reinsurance giant Swiss Re, where he served as VP, Senior Property Facultative Underwriter during his near five year tenure at the firm.
Moreover, Thinnes also previously had tenures at both CNA and Great American Insurance Group.
Thinnes’ appointment takes place during a string of recent hires made by the brokerage, including My Thien Nguyen who was named Country Leader and Head of Corporate Risk & Broking for Vietnam, and Jaideep (Jay) Sharma who was named Northeast Strategy & Execution Leader, Corporate Risk and Broking, North America.
Further, it was recently reported that WTW’s broking platform is now enabling digital trading with Zurich as part of its ongoing evolution.
