Zurich announce new appointments to Commercial Underwriting

Zurich Insurance Group has announced two new appointments to its Commercial Insurance Underwriting team. Stephen Moss joins as Group Head of Financial Lines and Cyber, and Andreas Schmitt joins as Group Cyber Underwriting Manager.

He has more than two decades of experience in the insurance industry and has held various senior underwriting and broking roles, including Casualty Portfolio Underwriting Director, and Underwriting Director for Financial Risks.

As Group Head of Financial Lines and Cyber, Moss will be responsible for Professional Indemnity, D&O, Financial Institutions, Mergers & Acquisitions, Cyber and Legal Indemnities. He will report to Hayley Robinson, Group Chief Underwriting Officer, and will remain based in the UK.

Schmitt joins Zurich from Munich Re where he built strong cyber capabilities as their Head of Cyber, Asia.

He has spent his entire career in insurance and reinsurance and brings more than three decades of underwriting experience to the role, having worked and led diverse teams on all continents.

In his new role, Schmitt will work closely with Zurich’s country offices worldwide to ensure a consistent and enhanced cyber underwriting approach and provide product expertise and counsel to optimize underwriting performance. He will report to Moss and will be based in Switzerland.

Zurich has stated that both appointments to the Group Underwriting function will be effective as of September 1, 2022.
