Global insurer Zurich has appointed Sierra Signorelli to an expanded role as group Chief Underwriting Officer, and is moving the Ian Thompson-led group claims team to commercial insurance.
Effective October 1, Both Signorelli and Thompson will report to James Shea, CEO of Commercial Insurance.
Signorelli will in her new role oversee the underwriting function across the group by bringing underwriting under one leader and structure.
Zurich hopes this will sharpen its underwriting focus and improve capabilities across the organisation.
She has more than 20 years of underwriting experience and since joining Zurich in 2017 has successfully repositioned the Commercial Insurance underwriting function and strengthened its resilience.
Under Thompson’s leadership over the past two years Zurich notes how group claims has made strides to develop technical and people capabilities.
The company believes that bringing the two functions together under one structure will strongly support the company’s success through the market cycles.
