Global insurance player American International Group (AIG) has named Charles Fry (most recently of Novae) to the role of Head of Reinsurance, Operations and Transformation, General Insurance, effective immediately.
Fry, who was most recently Group Chief Financial Officer at Novae Group plc, will oversee AIG’s Global Reinsurance, Shared Services, Transformation and Administration functions, reporting directly to Peter Zaffino, Chief Executive Officer, General Insurance and will also become part of the AIG General Insurance Executive Leadership Team.
AIG recently announced a re-organisation into three distinct operating divisions, General Insurance, led by Peter Zaffino, as CEO; Life & Retirement, led by Kevin Hogan, CEO; and a stand-alone, technology-enabled platform, led by Seraina Macia, CEO.
The hiring of Charles Fry by Zaffino seems to be a first move to put in place leadership experience suited to the new divisional split.

Prior to his time at Novae, Fry had held the role of Chief Operating Officer at Guy Carpenter, where he worked with Zaffino. Between 1999 and 2006 Fry served on the senior management team of reinsurance broker Benfield Group, as Chief Financial Officer of the principal operating subsidiary, Benfield Limited.
