Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) has hired William Fawcett to be its new regional head of legal for North America.
In taking on the role, Fawcett will be based in Chicago and will report directly to Quirin Emmerich, global head of legal. He will succeed Julie Garrison, who left the company in September.
In a statement, Emmerich said: “We are delighted to welcome William to the AGCS Legal team. His professional and leadership experience coupled with deep insights on corporate transactions and insurance operations are great assets for running our largest region. He will also be instrumental in the strategic evolution of the global Legal function as part of the New AGCS strategy.”
Fawcett joins AGCS from Haverford Holdings in Bermuda where he was general counsel for the past six years. From 2012 to 2016, he co-founded and led St. Bernard Assure Limited in Gibraltar, Europe’s first exclusively online personal auto insurer. Prior to that, Fawcett held positions as general counsel at Flagstone Reinsurance Holdings in Luxembourg and AXA in New York, and senior leadership positions in Claims at Endurance Specialty Holdings in Bermuda and Swiss Re in Zurich.
AGCS has made a number of hires in recent weeks, having added three US team members in January. It also made a number of senior leadership changes within its European team in November.
