Unicorn Underwriting, the specialist managing general agent (MGA) of AmWINS Group, Inc. has appointed Matt Edwards as lead underwriter, property specialty, effective June 17th, 2019.
In his new role, Edwards will report to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Unicorn and CEO of re/insurance broker THB Group, Frank Murphy.
As lead underwriter of property specialty, Edwards will head up a fourth division of Unicorn, Unicorn Property Specialty, and will have a focus on underwriting property insurance for small to medium sized businesses and also high value homeowners across the U.S.
According to an announcement, the business will be complementary to Unicorn’s larger property accounts that are underwritten by Neil Chapman’s Worldwide Property Division at Unicorn.
Edwards joins Unicorn from Pardus Underwriting, and has 25 years of insurance industry experience, including both broking and management roles at Aon and THB Group.
Murphy commented on the appointment: “Unicorn has been attracting some of the leading underwriting talent in the market. We have ambitious plans for the business and, with the expertise of Matt and the new property-specialty team, we look forward to continuing on the path of strong, profitable growth.”
