Insurance and reinsurance broker, Aon has appointed Michael McKnight to the role of Managing Director, Structured Reinsurance.
As an insurance executive with over three decades of industry experience, McKnight specialises in the areas of actuarial, risk management, claims and underwriting.
He has spent most of his career in the Bermuda marketplace, and is familiar with a variety of regulatory regimes including Solvency II and IFRS 17 GI.
Prior to Aon, McKnight spent almost two years at NextEra Energy Resources as a Director of Risk and Actuarial. Before that, he spent over six years as an independent actuarial consultant.
In 2012 he joined Third Point Reinsurance as Chief Actuary and Chief Risk Officer. As a founding member of the management team, he assisted in NYSE listing in 2025, implemented an integrated approach to pricing, reserving and risk management for underwriting exposures, and developed techniques for measuring the company’s
significant asset risk.
Before Third Point, McKnight was Chief Actuary for Max Capital Group for over six years, before its acquisition by Markel. He also was Structured Risk Underwriter for Catlin for over a year, and before that Chief Underwriter Officer for Gerling Global International Reinsurance Company.
McKnight is one of Aon’s most recent appointments as he joins Dominic Gallina and Agostino Fulciniti, who have been recently named Head of Property Broking and Head of Strategy Execution for Commercial Risk Solutions in EMEA, respectively.
