Asia Capital Reinsurance Group Pte. Ltd. (Asia Capital Re) has named a new Chief Executive Officer for its Malaysia subsidiary, Asia Capital Reinsurance Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (ACR Malaysia), promoting Ms Hue Yann Wei who was previously Head of Underwriting.

Asia Capital Reinsurance logoHue’s appointment as CEO of ACR Malaysia follows the retirement of founding CEO, A.K. Wong, on 31st December 2017.

Asia Capital Re Chief Executive, Bobby A. Heerasing, commented on the hire, “We are pleased that ACR Malaysia is able to have a smooth leadership transition process. As founding CEO, Mr Wong has firmly entrenched ACR Malaysia as a well reputed reinsurer among its clients.

“I am confident that Ms Hue who has played a key role in building ACR Malaysia’s underwriting business since she joined the company in 2011 will continue to develop ACR Malaysia as a reliable and trusted partner for ACR’s clients in Malaysia and Brunei as well as the rest of Asia.”

Hue has around 20 years of experience in the Malaysian re/insurance industry. She joined ACR Malaysia in 2011 as Head of Underwriting, before which she was Deputy CEO at Munich Re Malaysia.

Commenting on her promotion, Hue said, “Since ACR Malaysia was established 10 years ago, it has grown to be a trusted partner to our clients in the Malaysia and Brunei markets. I look forward to growing ACR Malaysia’s relationship further with our business partners on the same foundation of trust and together meeting the exciting opportunities to come in 2018 and beyond.”

The ACR Malaysia subsidiary was launched in 2007 as an independent non-life reinsurer, focused on underwriting Malaysian market risks. It now also services the Brunei market and manages two ACR capacity pools for agriculture and catastrophe risks across Asia. Asia Capital Re fully acquired the reinsurer in February 2017.
