Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has named Mark Walker as Head of National Business, UK, a Manchester-based role.
With this appointment, the firm stated, BHSI culminates the build-out of its dedicated National Business underwriting team in the United Kingdom.
Walker is currently Head of Customer & Broker Engagement, UK, at BHSI, and will retain that role until a replacement is named.
He joined BHSI in 2019. His more than 35 years of industry experience includes leadership positions at global carriers in the UK, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Asia.
His career in the insurance industry began in 1990 at SunAlliance (RSA), where he held several underwriting, business development, and senior leadership positions over a 25 year period. In 2015 he joined QBE as their first CEO of their Hong Kong business’s.

BHSI has also recently announced the appointment of David Corrigan as Head of Property for the UK. With 25 years of experience, he joined the firm from Aviva, where he was Head of Property, Global Corporate & Specialty.
In the US, BHSI named Gabriel Poppie Head of Customer & Broker Engagement for the US Central Region. And Dimitry Zilberud, Head of Marine, Australasia, has also been recently appointed to the additional role of Senior Vice President, Head of Marine, Retail US.
