A new managing general agent (MGA) platform, Blue Ocean Reinsurance Group, has recently been announced, based in the Cayman Islands.
This platform aims to support current and incoming reinsurers to the Cayman Market, as well as larger, complex captives.
Ruwan Jayasekera, chief operating officer of the newly formed group, states, “Subject to Regulatory approval, we will have our own Insurance Manager supporting clients with real time financial reporting and governance risk and compliance technology.”
The leadership team of Blue Ocean Re also includes Adrian Lynch as CEO and Graham Mackay as CFO.
Prior to forming Blue Ocean Re, Lynch has extensive experience working in various leadership roles across several companies, such as Artex Risk Solutions, Aon, and Vanderbrook & Co. He is also the co-founder of Aran Reinsurance Company (Cayman) Ltd.
Mackay brings 40 years of experience in global reinsurance markets with expertise in cross-border reinsurance transactions and offshore reinsurance company management.
Jayasekera has extensive experience in insurance regulation within the Cayman Islands, with around 15 years of experience working at the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority, most recently serving as a consultant in the Insurance Supervision Division.
