Canopius, the global specialty lines re/insurer, has announced the appointment of Stephan Ott as its new Head of Reinsurance for Continental Europe.
Most recently, Ott was Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) for Emirates Re, before which he held a number of senior underwriting positions in the Middle East at Al Fajer Re, and in Germany at Sirius Group.

Ott began his career in the re/insurance industry at Deutscher Ring, after which he became an underwriter at Sirius International, eventually progressing to Head of Underwriting at the company’s Hamburg branch office in 2006.
Canopius offers its clients and brokers capacity across most of the major treaty reinsurance classes of business, and its reinsurance team operates out of Lloyd’s in the UK, as well as from offices in California, New York, Bermuda, Dublin, Zurich, and Singapore.
