China Re appoints Liu Xiaopeng as Non-Executive Director

The Board of Directors of China Reinsurance Corporation (China Re) has approved the nomination of Liu Xiaopeng as a Non-Executive Director for the Board’s fourth session.

China ReXiaopeng is currently the director of the strategic operations of Gome Holdings Group Company Limited, an industrial conglomerate that operates in retail, finance, real estate, and investment sectors.

He previously served as the vice division chief of the department of financial assets management for State Grid Corporation of China, the country’s electric utility company.

Prior to this Xiaopeng was a member of the Party leadership group, the deputy general manager and the secretary to the board of directors of China Power Finance Co., and deputy director general of the global energy interconnection office of State Grid Corporation of China and the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organisation.

He also has experience as general manager of the investment management department and the department of development and planning at State Grid subsidiary Yingda International Holdings.

Xiaopeng’s appointment to the Board of China Re currently remains subject to the approval of shareholders, and of the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission.

Additionally, China Re announced the appointment of Wen Ning as a member of the Strategy and Investment Committee, a member of the Risk Management Committee, a member and the vice chairman of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee and a member of the Audit Committee.

Ning’s term of office shall commence from 24 June 2019 until the expiration of the term of the fourth session of the Board of Directors.
