Clear Group, an independent insurance and employee benefits group with operations across the UK and Ireland, has announced two senior executive appointments as the company continues to expand its leadership team in support of its long-term growth plans.

Clear Group said the appointments form part of its wider strategy as it continues to develop as a diversified insurance group operating across UK Retail, Brokerbility, Ireland, MGA and London Markets. The business stated that the new leadership structure is designed to strengthen its commercial approach, enhance its client offering and support further investment in technology, data and artificial intelligence to help drive future growth.

As Group Chief Commercial Officer, Williams will oversee Clear Group’s commercial strategy across the organisation. According to the company, he will work closely with the executive leadership team to identify new growth opportunities, improve commercial performance and strengthen client propositions through the increased use of technology, analytics and data.

Williams has experience spanning market development, insurance broking, pricing, regulation and distribution. Clear Group said he will continue leading its UK Retail strategy until he moves into the Group Chief Commercial Officer role in September.

Alcott joins Clear Group from Aon, where he most recently served as UK Chief Commercial Officer. He began his career as a risk engineer before progressing into senior leadership positions. His previous experience also includes serving as UK Sales Director at Oval, alongside roles with AXA, Allianz and Marsh.

Clear Group said Alcott’s background includes leadership, sales and broking experience across the corporate, mid-market and SME sectors. In his new position as UK Retail CEO, he will lead the next stage of development for the company’s retail business, with a focus on strengthening client relationships, maintaining high service standards and supporting continued growth.

Alcott commented: “I’m delighted to be joining Clear at such an exciting and important time. The business has a terrific reputation for putting clients first and creating an environment where colleagues can develop and do their very best work. I’m really looking forward to working with the team and helping grow the UK Retail business.”

Mike Edgeley, Group CEO of Clear Group, added: “As Clear continues to evolve, it’s important that our leadership structure evolves alongside it. Phil’s new role reflects the increasing scale and diversity of our business and the opportunity to strengthen our commercial focus across the Group. We’re also delighted to welcome Matthew to Clear. His extensive market experience and leadership credentials make him an excellent choice to lead our UK Retail business through its next phase of growth.

“Alongside these appointments, we are continuing to invest in data, technology and AI-enabled capabilities that will help our colleagues deliver an even better experience for clients while supporting the Group’s long-term ambitions.”

Clear Group said the appointments reflect its ongoing investment in senior leadership as the company continues to expand its capabilities across the business. The insurer added that its continued focus on technology, innovation and commercial development is intended to support sustainable long-term growth while enhancing the experience it provides to clients.
