UK insurtech Cytora has announced the appointment of Thomas Huerlimann to its board of advisors as the company looks to bolster its growth plans.

CytoraHuerlimann brings 30 years of experience in banking, reinsurance and insurance.

He joins a team of existing advisors that includes AXA XL’s former Chief Executive, Client and Country Management Kelly Lyles, who was appointed in February.

Huerlimann spent 15 years at Zurich Insurance, where he most recently served as CEO, Global Corporate. He also held roles at Swiss Re and National Westminster Bank.

“Today insurers face a dynamic environment, shaped by challenging societal and macroeconomic conditions, combined with customers pushing for digital transformation”, said Huerlimann.

“This is widening the gap between high-performing carriers and laggards, so competitive differentiation is higher on the agenda than ever.

“Cytora is one of those companies that will change the game for today’s insurer, enabling them to digitise their workflows, accelerate profitable growth and provide a better experience across the insurance value chain to brokers and customers.”

“We’re pleased to strengthen our industry expertise further with Thomas’s appointment,” said Richard Hartley, CEO, Cytora. “We’re bringing a new class of technology to commercial insurance, and Thomas is set to support us in our market and product expansion.”
