DUAL, an international specialist underwriting business, has expanded its Title & Legal Indemnity insurance capabilities through a new international binder aimed at supporting complex property and cross-border transactions.
The agreement is led by AXA XL, with additional backing from Liberty, Chaucer, AXIS and Intact, increasing the capacity available to clients and extending the geographical scope of DUAL’s offering across the UK, Europe, Asia Pacific and Latin America.
Under the new arrangement, DUAL can provide policy limits of up to £320 million for a single real estate risk. The business said the binder combines comprehensive policy wordings with specialist underwriting expertise to address a range of transaction requirements.
Its multi-disciplinary approach also allows DUAL to bring together different lines of insurance to support brokers and clients seeking cover for mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
DUAL’s Title & Legal Indemnity business has been operating for more than 13 years and sits within the group’s broader Transactional Risk offering, which launched earlier in 2026. Dave Persaud joined DUAL in October 2025 and took up the role of International Head of Title & Legal Indemnity at the beginning of 2026. He is responsible for developing the business across key markets, including the UK, Europe and Asia Pacific.
Richard Clapham, CEO of DUAL Group, commented: “Our ambition is to be the leading Title & Legal Indemnity business, and the launch of this international binder is an endorsement of that vision. It strengthens our position in the market and demonstrates the confidence our carrier partners place in our expertise, whilst also enhancing our offering through higher policy limits and broader geographic coverage.”
Paul Smith, Group Head of Transactional Risk at DUAL, added: “As M&A activity continues to rebound and transactions become more international in nature, we are seeing growing demand for specialist Title & Legal Indemnity insurance, particularly on complex and cross-border deals.
“By bringing our Transactional Risk capabilities even closer together and extending our geographic reach, we are well placed to deliver the consistent, specialist expertise that clients and brokers need in an increasingly international market. The unique breadth of our offering across five complementary product areas, including Title & Legal Indemnity, enables us to provide tailored solutions for a wide range of complex transactions and deliver exceptional support to clients and broker partners alike.”
Dave Persaud, International Head of Title & Legal Indemnity at DUAL, noted: “This new binder is a significant milestone for our Title & Legal Indemnity business, reflecting the strength of the team we’ve built and the reputation we’ve established over many years. With one of the most experienced Title insurance teams in the market, combined with enhanced capacity and broader international reach, we can support clients and brokers with the flexibility and certainty they need.
“As Title & Legal Indemnity insurance becomes an increasingly important component of cross-border M&A and real estate transactions, we are exceptionally well placed to help our clients navigate risk and unlock opportunities across multiple markets.”
Tariq Jawaheer, Head of Title Insurance, UK & Lloyd’s at AXA XL, added: “DUAL has built a strong reputation in this market and we’re delighted to support them with their new international Title & Legal Indemnity binder.
“We are looking forward to working alongside the wider panel, helping brokers and clients access the expertise, flexibility and confidence they need to complete complex transactions successfully.”
Stephen Tompson, Head of Supercoverholders at Liberty Specialty Markets, said: “As cross-border real estate and M&A transactions become increasingly complex, the need for specialist expertise and flexible underwriting capacity continues to grow. We are delighted to support DUAL’s new international Title & Legal Indemnity binder, which brings together a strong panel of insurers and a highly experienced underwriting team to meet this evolving market requirement.”
