Reinsurance broker Guy Carpenter has confirmed Steve Warwick’s hire as Head of GC Access Asia Pacific.

We previously reported Warwick’s appointment earlier this month.

GC Access is the firm’s MGA Solutions Specialty Practice, working with expertise, analytical capabilities, global reach and a broad network of re/insurance relationships to efficiently match MGAs and carriers.

In his new role, Warwick will focus on developing new opportunities and extending the reach of Guy Carpenter’s innovative solutions.

Overall, Warwick brings over 40 years of industry experience towards the role. He joins Guy Carpenter from Howden Tiger where he most recently served as Executive Director, Head of Treaty Asia Pacific.

Before taking on that role, Warwick served as Chief Executive Officer of Reinsurance, Asia Pacific at International insurance and reinsurance broker, RFIB.

He began his career in the industry working at Aon in 1980, where he held a number of senior positions. Fast forward to 2016, he left Aon Benfield, the reinsurance arm of Aon, to become the co-founder of Nine Merchants Re, a Hong Kong-based reinsurer.

“The Asia Pacific region program market has seen tremendous growth in recent years, creating lucrative potential
for our clients to grow and capitalize on new and existing MGA opportunities,” said Tony Gallagher, CEO of Asia
Pacific at Guy Carpenter.

“Building on the great work already in progress by the GC Access Asia Pacific team, I am confident that Steve will further enhance Guy Carpenter’s position in the MGA space with his decades of experience in the reinsurance and program sectors.”

In other related Guy Carpenter news, earlier this week, the firm appointed former SCOR CEO Laurent Rousseau to fill a newly created position of Guy Carpenter CEO of EMEA and Global Capital Solutions.

Elsewhere, Guy Carpenter, in collaboration with Dr Franziska Arnold-Dwyer from Queen Mary University of London, recently announced the proposal of a Climate Resilient Development Bond, a new re/insurance structure designed to address climate risk at scale.
