The Reinsurance Association of America (RAA) has announced the election of new officers for 2020-2021, including Kathleen Reardon, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Hamilton Re, Ltd., as Chair of the organisation’s Board of Directors.
Reardon, who was appointed CEO of Hamilton Re in 2014, takes over as Chair of the Board of the RAA from John Welch, Chief Executive, Domestic Markets, AXA XL.
She brings more than 25 years of industry experience to the Board, having served as SVP, Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) International at ACE (now Chubb) Tempest Re Bermuda, prior to which she served in key leadership roles with ACE Financial Solutions International.
Currently, Reardon sits on the Board for Blue Marble Microinsurance, and is Co-Founder and Board member for Women in Reinsurance Bermuda, having chaired the organisation from 2014-2019.
In addition, the RAA has elected Jed Rhoads, President and CUO of Markel Global Reinsurance, as Vice Chair.
He joined Markel in 2013 after the company acquired Alterra Capital Holdings Limited in Bermuda. During his career, he has held senior roles at Harbor Point Re, Chubb Re Bermuda, Overseas Partners Limited Bermuda, Stockton Re Limited Bermuda, and Sedgwick Re, Philadelphia.
At the same time, the RAA also elected Brian Young, President and CEO of Odyssey Group Holdings, as secretary-treasury.
Young brings more than three decades of industry experience to the Board of the RAA, the past 24 of which have been spent with Odyssey. During his time with the company, he has held numerous senior underwriting and management roles across the firm’s operations in Canada, Latin America, London, and Lloyd’s.
