Hippo, a California-based insurtech focused on US home insurance, has announced the addition of Sandra Wijnberg to its Board of Directors.

Wijnberg was previously the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Marsh & McLennan Companies, and also worked as a Partner, Chief Administrative Officer and member of the Board of Aquiline Holdings.

At Hippo, she will be an Independent Director and serve the Board as its Audit Chair.

“Sandra is an incredible fit for Hippo’s board and we’re honored to have her join us as we pursue our mission to transform the home insurance customer experience and this $100 billon industry,” said Assaf Wand, Hippo’s CEO and co-founder.

“Her insurance, financial services and public company experience complements our current board and will help us through our next phase of growth.”

Wijnberg currently serves as audit committee chair of Automatic Data Processing, Inc. and Cognizant Technology Solutions and is also a member of the board of T. Rowe Price Group, Inc.

She previously served on the boards of directors of Tyco International PLC and TE Connectivity Ltd.

“When industries force consumers to compromise, it creates opportunities for disruptive approaches,” said Wijnberg.

“Home insurance companies have been asking customers to compromise for years. Hippo offers a transformative approach to home insurance by removing key friction points and focusing on improving the homeowner experience,” she added.

“The company is led by a first-class management team, works with a strong group of strategic partners and is backed by top-tier investors. I am excited to join the board and help drive Hippo’s success.”
