Kennedys boosts insurance practice with five hires from Mayer Brown

International law firm Kennedys has announced further expansion of its insurance practice with the hiring of a five-strong team from Mayer Brown, enhancing the firm’s multi-jurisdiction capabilities.

Kennedys lawThe hires include David Chadwick, Ingrid Hobbs, Tim McCaw, Andrew McGahey, and Andrew Westlake, and takes the firm’s partner hires for 2017 to 33. All new employees, except McGahey, who will relocate to Ireland, will be based in the firm’s London office.

Chadwick was previously Head of Mayer Brown’s London Insurance and Reinsurance Group, and has a focus on political risk and trade credit.

Hobbs is a specialist insurance litigator, and is highly regarded by numerous leading insurance firms and Lloyd’s of London syndicates.

McCaw brings extensive experience of defending professional negligence claims, and has experience of advising insurance companies on political risk and trade credit claims and drafting policy wordings.

McGahey has experience in dealing with claims under warranty and indemnity and Public Offering of Securities Insurance (POSI) policies, and also transactional liability insurance.

Westlake has experience in advising political risk and trade credit insurers, and his practice includes both High Court litigation in London and international arbitration under LICA and ICC rules.
